This Accessibility Policy outlines how individuals with disabilities can use GovTabletWireless services. We are committed to ensuring that our services are accessible and available to all individuals, including those with hearing, visual, or speech impairments. Customers requiring specially equipped devices should contact us to discuss their specific needs, and we will strive to provide solutions that enhance their access to digital connectivity.
1. Hearing Aid Compatibility
Currently, GovTabletWireless does not offer cell phones for its voice plans. However, customers can refer to their device documentation to determine hearing aid compatibility.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has implemented hearing aid compatibility standards for wireless phones. The ANSI Standard helps consumers identify phones that work with hearing aids. Phones rated M3, M4, T3, or T4 are considered hearing aid compatible.

3. Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS)
Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) allows individuals with hearing or speech impairments to communicate over the telephone system via a Text Telephone (TTY) or other assistive devices.
Different types of TRS include:
- Text-to-Voice TTY
- Speech-to-Speech (STS)
- Video Relay Service (VRS)
- Real-Time Text (RTT)
- Captioned Telephone Services
TRS is available across all 50 U.S. states and territories at no additional cost other than standard calling rates. Users can access TRS by dialing 711. For emergency calls, TTY users should directly dial 911.
For more details, visit the FCC’s TRS Guide: www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/telecommunications-relay-service-trs.
4. Using Text Telephone (TTY) with GovTabletWireless Services
TTY (Text Telephone) enables individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-impaired to type messages instead of speaking. While GovTabletWireless service plans support TTY calls, please note:
- TTY calls cannot be made over IP-based calling services like Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Wi-Fi Calling.
- Customers needing 911 assistance via IP-based calling should use IP Relay, Video Relay, or IP Captioned Telephone Services.
- In locations where Text-to-911 is available, users can send emergency text messages directly.
For further details, consult your hearing device manufacturer or phone provider.
5. Using Real-Time Text (RTT) with GovTabletWireless Services
Real-Time Text (RTT) allows text to be transmitted instantly as typed, without pressing “send.” RTT benefits include:
- Simultaneous voice and text communication.
- Instant message delivery for improved accessibility.
- More effective communication for hearing or speech-impaired users.
Users with RTT-enabled devices can communicate with other RTT users on supported networks. RTT calls consume voice minutes.
6. Using Other Relay Services with GovTabletWireless
GovTabletWireless supports IP-based relay services, including:
- Video Relay Service (VRS)
- IP Relay
- IP Captioned Telephone Service
These relay services provide a more effective communication method than TTY and are recommended for individuals using IP-based calling features.
